Hi. I’ve been playing bass for about a year now, with no “conventional” bass lessons, and i am struggling to find songs to learn that challenge me, because i mostly listen to punk and heavy metal, which is generally pretty basic. I have got down a lot of rage against the machine songs, such as bombtrack and quite a few of the chili’s. Any suggestions?

Hiya, Jack…
Have you tried any other the “harder” songs by Metallica? Like cliff Burtons stuff?
That’s just an example, but there is plenty of good stuff for you to learn out there. Try some radiohead lines. “Karma police” is a brilliant line, and is tricky towards the end, as there is a bass solo of sorts. That’s fun to learn.
Also try some Muse. Maybe Hysteria? That can be quite tricky.

Do you sell DVDs with sevearl lessons (songs) on them? I ask because where I live my internet connection is terrible! Hard to learn with it constantly “reloading.

Hello, Fred. Sorry about late reply (Haven’t had the net for three weeks!)
I don’t at the moment, but a few people have asked this, so it’s certainly something I can look at.
If there was a dvd, what would you want on it?

Never! There will always be tutorials
No, it’ just that I haven’t got round to doing it yet. Simple as that. I promise I’ll look at this over the next couple of weeks though, ok?

Cool, it’s just when I find tabs, there’s a lot out there, they tend to differ. That confuses me. For I’m trying to learn all the notes. The first part I’ve got after playing it for more than a hundred times. That works for me, automating the ‘moves’. My family goes nuts but part two….coming up?
PS: how about adding tabs? thnx a lot for your lessons, my bass teacher is impressed already (lol)
